You’re bound to feel a little bit nervous on the day of your test. To help things go as smoothly as possible for you, we’ve put together some information to help you understand what will happen before and on the day of your test.
A notification email will be sent to you about one week before your test day to confirm the test venue and your speaking interview time. If you do not receive the notification, please contact us at 2913 5170 or firstname.lastname@example.org no later than three days before the test. You can also view and print the information on our online system under the 'My Test' section after login.
TIME TO ARRIVE ON THE TEST DATE
The test starts at 9 a.m. However we recommend you to arrive by 8.15 a.m. to give you enough time to get settled.
You must arrive at the test venue before 8.45 a.m. If you arrive after the start of the test you will not be allowed to take the test on that day.
ITEMS TO BRING WITH ME ON THE TEST DATE
You must show your confirmation letter and ID document (e.g. ID card or passport). You must bring the same form of ID document that you indicated on your application. This is the only form of identity that will be accepted on the test day.
The only items you can take into the examination room are your identity document, copy of your identity document, belonging tag/label and water in a transparent bottle. Pencils and erasers will be provided. All other personal belongings (including stationery, papers, mobile phones, beepers and personal valuables) must be placed in the designated area outside the examination room.
For details of the registration process on the test day, please see the Test Day Flow Chat.
TEST DATE PHOTO
To enhance the security issue and the integrity of the test, each candidate will be required to have their photograph taken before entering the test room. Photo taken will be used to verify your identity every time when you enter the test room. It will also appear on your Test Report Form.
During the photo taking, you will be required to temporarily remove any covering from your face including glasses, hat, scarf etc.
Any candidate who refuses to have a photograph taken will not be permitted to sit the test and will not be entitled to a refund.
BREAKS DURING EXAMS
There is no break between papers. Please use the toilet before taking your test date photograph. You can only use your own time to go to the toilet after the Reading and Writing papers has started. However, you are not allowed to use the toilet in the last ten minutes of any of these tests or while the papers are being collected.
STORAGE OF BELONGINGS ON THE TEST DATE
There will be a designated room or area where you will need to leave all your belongings. The room or area will be locked or monitored during the test. The British Council is not responsible for loss or damage to your personal belongings at the test venue. Therefore, we strongly recommend leaving valuables, such as mobile phones, computers at home.
