The British Council Hong Kong is delighted to announce the winners of the Study UK Alumni Awards 2026, celebrating outstanding UK alumni who are driving positive change in Hong Kong and beyond. The award ceremony took place on 25 April, hosted in partnership with the London Ball Foundation, and brought together UK alumni whose achievements span business, culture, science and social impact.
The Study UK Alumni Awards recognise the outstanding achievements of international UK alumni worldwide. These awards honour leaders who have leveraged their UK education to make significant contributions to their communities, industries, and countries. Now in its 12th year, the Alumni Awards are a truly global award: more than 1,800 applications were received from alumni in over 120 countries, representing more than 140 UK universities.
The independent judging panel selected recipients for the four award categories: Business and Innovation Award, Culture, Creativity and Sport Award, Science and Sustainability Award and Social Action Award.

Today, more than 150,000 UK alumni in Hong Kong are making meaningful contributions across sectors, drawing on the knowledge, skills and global perspectives gained through their UK education. We are delighted to celebrate their achievements through the Study UK Alumni Awards and are sincerely grateful for our partnership with the London Ball Foundation, whose support has been instrumental in making this award ceremony a success.’
Hong Kong award winners
- Business and Innovation Award
Curtis Wong, Co-founder of DRESIO, and alumnus of University of Exeter. Curtis’ UK education inspired him to help build a better future by developing accessible and efficient heathcare solutions.
- Culture, Creativity and Sport Award
Kay Tu, Founder of Tu by Tu, and alumna of University College London. A UK-registered architect, Kay creates designs that promote cultural and environmental awareness—reconnecting people with nature and sustainable living.
- Science and Sustainability Award
Felix Leung, Head of Climate Education and Action at CUHK Jockey Club Museum of Climate Change, and alumnus of Imperial College London and the University of Exeter. Felix’s UK training has empowered him to drive innovative UK–Hong Kong climate partnerships and transform scientific research into meaningful public engagement.
Kevin Tai, Assistant Professor of Language and Literacy Education at The University of Hong Kong, and alumnus of Newcastle University, the University of Oxford, and University College London. A leading researcher in translanguaging and social justice, Kevin is currently exploring how AI can support critical language awareness.

National Study UK Alumni Awards are taking place in 18 countries and territories including Hong Kong. Winners and finalists from Hong Kong have also been entered into global Study UK Alumni Awards. Global finalist will be announced in 2026 and celebrated through a digital campaign highlighting their remarkable stories and successes. The four global winners—one from each category—will be invited to the UK to support the ongoing development of their careers, reconnect with their universities and meet with Study UK stakeholders. This prestigious visit offers the opportunity for winners to enhance their international profiles, deepen their ties with the UK and foster meaningful connections with the academic community.

Alumni Award categories
- Business and Innovation Award - recognising alumni who are active in initiating and contributing to innovative or creative new ideas, solutions or business opportunities, that have the potential for growth.
Areas of work could include, but are not limited to: entrepreneurship, business, technology and finance.
- Culture, Creativity and Sport Award - recognising alumni who have carved a career for themselves in arts, culture and sport. We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate their artistic ingenuity, influence and creativity.
Areas of work could include, but are not limited to: arts, design, humanities, traditional media, music, video, TV, sports and online content and audiovisual media creation (e.g blogging, vlogging including for YouTube and social media).
- Science and Sustainability Award - recognising alumni who have distinguished themselves through their career and achievements in the world of science and sustainability, and who can demonstrate the impact and scale of their achievements in their profession, and beyond.
Areas of work could include, but are not limited to: climate action, clean energy, medicine, sustainable cities and communities, engineering, industry and construction.
- Social Action Award - recognising alumni who have made an exceptional contribution and commitment to creating positive social change and improving the lives of others.
Areas of work could include, but are not limited to: education, peace and justice and reducing inequality, poverty and hunger and broader humanitarian work or work for social good.
