This role will manage project resources and oversee activities to ensure that project objectives are delivered on time, on budget and to the highest level of quality to ensure impact. In addition, S/he will support the Senior Programme Manager and the Director of Programmes and Partnerships to deliver a successful, coherent programme portfolio by ensuring that programme knowledge and data is gathered, recorded and shared effectively.

You will be responsible for planning and managing project, programme and contract delivery plans according to the Centre of Excellence project management standards. You will ensure sound financial planning for the project working closely with finance teams to ensure British Council and client financial year plans are up to date as well as forming and maintaining good collaborative relationships with the project funder, partners and external stakeholders related to the Core Skills for Life project. In addition, you will line manage an Assistant Programme Manager, managing performance, ensuring actions are in line with competencies and duties in their job descriptions and support them in planning their professional development.
To be successful, you should possess a First degree, preferably in public policy, political or social science, public administration, development studies or in another relevant area (such as economics, education, sociology, law) and bring along a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in project or programme management in a development field or government. You should be able to work cooperatively and effectively with others to set objectives, solve problems, and make decisions that enhance project effectiveness. You will have sound and demonstrable experience of financial reporting and budget management as well as the experience in managing complex stakeholder engagement, and an ability to provide clear communication around those processes.
