British Council Hong Kong is looking for student ambassadors from UK institutions to work with the Hong Kong office in July and August 2019. The ambassadors will work with the International Education Services team for the duration of the contract period, to promote the work, life and opportunities that come from studying in the UK. They will provide a wider perspective of studying in the UK by sharing knowledge and experience with Hong Kong students, encouraging greater participation and awareness of UK education.

Study UK student ambassadors will:

1) gain opportunities to share their talents, experiences and advice with Hong Kong students

2) develop their skills and make new connections, and

3) receive a stipend to cover costs. 


Contract period: 2 July 2019 – 30 August 2019

Working mode: Part time mode

Working location: British Council office in Admiralty, Hong Kong, as well as at external venues around Hong Kong

- Prepare presentation materials for pre-departure briefings

- Deliver four sessions of pre-departure briefings (must be available on 13-14 July 2019, 27 July 2019 and 17 August 2019)

- Assist in the Study UK exhibitions (must be available on 13-14 July and 17 August 2019)

- Write articles on different themes to be shared on the British Council website, Facebook and in newspapers

- Share personal experience through different media to give prospective students an idea of what it is like to study in the UK

- Participate in British Council’s UK education marketing and social media campaigns

Expected output

- Prepare and deliver four sessions of pre-departure briefings (13-14 July 2019, 27 July 2019 and 17 August 2019)

- Participate in the Study UK exhibitions (13-14 July and 17 August 2019)

- One piece of weekly social media content (e.g. a photo with a caption, a short video, etc.) for the duration of the contract

- A minimum of two monthly articles for the whole duration of the contract


Any student who fulfils all the requirements below is eligible to apply:
- Aged 16 or above (by 2 July 2019) and eligible to work in Hong Kong

- Hong Kong resident who is currently studying in the UK and has spent at least one full academic or calendar year in the UK

- Proficient in spoken and written English and Chinese (Cantonese)

- Must be available to work on: 13-14 July 2019, 27 July 2019 and 17 August 2019

Application procedure

1. Complete the online application form by 11 May 2019

2. Send a scanned or digital copy of your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) or Certificate of Enrolment from the institution to by 11 May 2019

3. Selections will be conducted in end of May 2019. Please note ONLY successful candidates will be contacted. Selected candidates may be invited for an interview via Skype

4. Selection results will be announced in early June 2019 via email

Contract and payment

- The appointed Student Ambassador will become a vendor of the British Council Hong Kong through a formal contract

- Each student ambassador will receive a total stipend of HKD7,000 for the contract. HKD3,500 will be credited to the agreed bank account monthly.

- All payments will be transferred into a Hong Kong bank account under the appointed applicant’s name

- The appointee will need to submit an invoice to the British Council Hong Kong at the end of each month
