On 30 January 2020, the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) situation a global health emergency.
To support efforts to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) in Hong Kong, please find outlined below the measures the British Council in Hong Kong is taking. We apologise for any inconvenience that these may cause, but please be assured that the health, safety and well-being of our staff, customers and the community in which we operate is our top priority.
Our building in Admiralty and English language centres are closed. We are currently suspending all English classes, tests and exams with immediate effect. We are closely monitoring the situation and will review arrangements as follows:
English classes for playgroup, kindergarten, primary, secondary and adults
We will update you by 21 February.
Details for alternative arrangements will be communicated soon.
Classes suspended until 16 March. During this time we will keep our Pre-school premises open to look after students who have to go back to school because the parents have no childcare at home.
Tests and exams
All tests and exams in Hong Kong and Macau are suspended as follows:
- Hong Kong until 24 February
- Macau until 1 March
These dates will be reviewed as the situation develops.
Transfers and refunds are available for affected test takers by contacting the test centre through WhatsApp: 60361787, Wechat: 60362587 or email: email@example.com.
Please do not visit the test centre as opening hours may be restricted.
Test report forms
- Test takers who have already taken their test will receive their TRF by mail.
- If results are urgently needed and it is 5 days since your computer delivered test or 13 days since your paper test then please email your test centre.
We are doing our best to keep all our stakeholders informed in a timely manner of the rapidly evolving situation. When we resume, we will be encouraging everyone to follow basic hygiene practices such as frequent handwashing with soap and water, using hand sanitisers which are provided at our premises, wearing a mask if preferred and seeking medical attention if unwell.
We are monitoring the situation very closely and will continue to take relevant measures in the days ahead.
