At the British Council, you are not learning English on your own. All our courses are taught by experienced, internationally qualified teachers who are best placed to give constructive, individualised feedback and monitor your progress through regular in-class evaluated tasks. Meet some of our myClass teachers:

Simon Lawfull

Senior Teacher Adults

I have been teaching English to adults since 2008. I have worked in Spain, the UK, Vietnam and Australia and have been in Hong Kong since early 2012. I have a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), as well as a Certificate and Diploma in English Language Teaching. I really enjoy the interaction with learners in classes and teaching a variety of levels. My interests include performing arts, music and travelling.

Chris Morgan

myClass Coordinator

I've been teaching English for 8 years. I've been in Hong Kong for just over a year, but have taught in Italy, the UK, South Korea and Japan. I have a Certificate and Diploma in teaching adult learners. I’m very interested in teaching pronunciation, listening skills, speaking strategies and natural language. I like my classes to be as communicative as possible. In my free time, I enjoy cinema trips, hiking and writing.

Kate Chodzko

myClub Coordinator

I’ve been a teacher for ten years and worked in Poland, China and the UK before joining the British Council as myClub Coordinator in 2016. Prior to becoming a teacher I worked in human resources and at an international NGO. I really enjoy staging role-plays in myClass which resemble a real working environment, as these equip my learners with the business skills they need in their jobs. When I’m not teaching, you can probably find me running on Bowen Road.

Wah Fai Lau

English Teacher

I was born and raised in the UK and studied software engineering at the University of Manchester. After university I gained a TESOL certificate in teaching English and taught English for over four years in Japan. I then worked in the UK for several years before coming to Hong Kong, where I have enjoyed teaching at the British Council for the past 5 years. I’m looking forward to meeting more myClass students so come along and join a class!

Hanna Shahina

English Teacher

I have been teaching English since 2003, but still feel excited each time I enter the classroom as when I first started. I absolutely love my job, and I think it is one of the most creative and rewarding professions in the world, makes your life meaningful and doesn’t let you stop developing professionally as you always have to keep up with changes in the profession. I am very creative by nature and have lots of hobbies: I am a poet, a make-up artist, a dancer, and a doll and teddy collector.

Darshika Saxena

English Teacher

I am a Portuguese Indian who grew up in the Middle East. I have mentored teachers and taught in six countries in the past seven years. As a member of the British Psychological Society, I find the human mind and behaviour very interesting. I incorporate this into my lessons to make it more engaging and authentic. In my free time, I like to read on the MTR, indulge in aesthetics, work on my charity, hike and kayak with my dog.
